Description

This unit presents a broad view of project management. The aim of the unit is to provide the skills and competence necessary to apply the quantitative and qualitative techniques in organisational project management decision-making situations.
The approach taken consists of defining the project objective, developing a work break down structure, initial planning via network diagrams and Gantt charts, acquiring the necessary resource, performing resource allocation and levelling, and implementing the results together with some common sense. In addition, further techniques of resource limited scheduling as well as the critical chain project management which is the most recent breakthrough in project management history.  Some case studies will be discussed with the emphasis being on application of the techniques rather than the theory.
